Announcement of Staff Positions

Happy Friday, Lowell Families!

I’m writing with some exciting news about several of our classroom teachers for the upcoming school year.
As you know, Anne Sudbay has accepted the Math Interventionist position, and Kaitlyn Baumann is joining our THRIVE team. We had many strong applicants and significant internal interest in both classroom openings. After a thoughtful selection process, I’m delighted to announce our newest Grade 2 and Grade 3 teachers.

Jackie McCready will be joining our Grade 3 team. Jackie is a longtime and deeply valued member of the Lowell community. Before coming to Lowell, she was a classroom teacher. She later became one of the pioneering teachers who helped bring Spanish instruction to Watertown’s elementary schools before transitioning to ESL, where she has spent many successful years supporting multilingual learners.

Jackie is excited to bring her extensive experience and unique perspective to the Grade 3 classroom. As a teacher of color, she understands the importance of students seeing themselves represented in their teachers and school leaders. She looks forward to building close relationships with her students, broadening their view of what is possible, and inspiring them to dream about their own futures.

Alyssa McCarthy will be joining our Grade 2 team. Alyssa previously taught second grade at Hosmer School and brings deep knowledge of this important year in a child’s development. She loves creating meaningful learning experiences through rich content and themes. She also believes strongly in building a welcoming classroom community, a hallmark of the Responsive Classroom approach. Alyssa most recently taught at Early Steps, but she is excited to return to second grade, where she feels most at home.

We are also thrilled to announce that Elizabeth McElroy, formerly of Early Steps, will be joining our Pre-K classroom. Elizabeth is a veteran educator who brings extensive experience, knowledge, and warmth to her work. We are so fortunate to have such an accomplished teacher leading and nurturing our youngest learners.

Finally, we are excited to welcome Emma Campion as the teacher of our Learning Support Program. Emma recently taught at Hosmer and brings a genuine love for and commitment to students receiving special education services. Her calm presence and compassion are infectious, and we know she will be a wonderful addition to our specialized programs team.

We are thrilled to welcome Alyssa, Elizabeth, and Emma to their new roles and equally excited to see Jackie begin this new chapter within our school community. Please join me in congratulating each of them and wishing them every success.

Next week, I will formally introduce all our new staff members and share mini bios. I wanted families to receive this news now, as I know many of you have been eager to learn who will be leading these classrooms and programs.
